Tiffin University Cyber Security Students Attend the 2018 INFOSEC Summit

On May 14 and 15, Tiffin University students had the opportunity to attend the 11th annual Information Security Summit in Columbus, Ohio. The Central Ohio InfoSec Summit had hundreds of professionals in attendance, which gave students a great opportunity to network with cyber security professionals.

The Summit had several renowned keynote speakers deliver speeches on various topics regarding information security. The keynote speakers included Thomas Drake, a former senior executive for the National Security Agency; Paula Januszkiewicz, a seasoned security professional who founded her own company; Brian Krebs, who runs one of the most popular websites related to cyber security topics; and Jack Daniel, a security professional that cofounded a company and runs a popular security blog.

Besides the keynote speakers, the Summit had dozens of cyber security professionals provide presentations over the course of the two days on various topics related to Information Security. Tiffin University students were able to attend various presentations on topics including hacking demonstrations, web application penetration testing, trending legal issues in Information Security and participated in an interactive panel of security professionals geared towards helping students break into the Information Security world.

The InfoSec Summit included dozens of companies with which Tiffin University students were able to interact. Students were able to learn about different companies and their cyber security products, discuss internship and job opportunities and create important connections with cyber security professionals.

Scott Blough, Executive Director of the Center for Cyber Defense & Forensics at Tiffin University stated “The Central Ohio InfoSec Summit was a great learning experience and networking opportunity for Tiffin University students. The connections they were able to make will positively impact their future professional endeavors for years to come.“
