TU to Host Ninth Annual Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SOTL) Conference

TIFFIN UNIVERSITY, TIFFIN, OH— Tiffin University will host the Ninth Annual Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference (SOTL) on May 14 and 15 in the Marion Center. Registration, $175, is currently open. To reserve, visit www.sotl2018.com.

The conference will offer area higher education professionals an opportunity to learn about innovations in teaching and learning strategies as well as share research.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Classroom Innovation,” and the keynote will be delivered by Dr. Maria Anderson beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Osceola Theatre located inside of the Gillmor Student Center. Presenters at the conference are not only representing Tiffin University, but are also representing a variety of colleges from Ohio and surrounding states. Presentations, panel discussions and poster sessions will focus on strategies that educators use to engage and understand their students inside and outside of the classroom.

About Dr. Maria Andersen
Dr. Maria Andersen is a professor, software developer, consultant, writer, speaker, learning futurist and CEO of Coursetune. Over her career, she has built iPad games to teach algebra, guided professional development for faculty who teach online, launched the Canvas Network MOOC platform, built adaptive learning platforms used by McGraw Hill and worked as the Director of Learning Design for WGU (a fully-online CBE institution).

TU’s Director of the Center for Innovation of Teaching and Learning and conference organizer, Kristi Krintzline, Ph.D. said, “We are very excited to offer an excellent conference that promotes innovative research and educational best practices for personal and professional development.”

About SOTL
The SOTL Conference was first founded in 2009 by Dr. Jeff Bernstein and Dr. Sarah Ginsberg. It was initially hosted at Eastern Michigan University. It has since been hosted by The University of Findlay for the previous two years.
